New Year's Resolutions
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17
So I haven't posted in a while, right? Well I plan to write more, but for now I will post my New Year's Resolutions. As I mature in Christ, things will become even clearer for me, and I believe these are some of the correct steps for me.
1) Grow closer to Christ :
This should be everyone's #1 New Year's Resolution EVERY YEAR! Pray more, read my Bible more, be more patient, be more faithful, more loving, caring, more righteous and holy!
2) Step out in faith even more:
Evangelize even more than I did last year. Take new roles of leadership to advance the Kingdom! Don't be worried about what may happen to me or what harm may come my way. Remember that when I signed up to be a Christian, preaching the gospel to all nations as a part of the package, and it wasn't like if it was in fine print.
3) Get rid of dead weight:
Unfortunately there are still too many leeches in my life. The parasites. The ones that are your friend when they need a shoulder to lay their head on, or someone to pray for them or their boyfriend's cousin's baby daddy, or they need to borrow money, or they need help with a computer. You know what I mean. You know who you are. I realize that part of being a Christian is being taken advantage of. I don't like it, God doesn't want it to just happen all the time either, but being that our nature is to be selfless and put others before ourselves, its going to happen from time to time. Well I want it to happen JUST time to time. Getting rid of this dead weight will enable me to better realize the following resolution...
4) Do more community service:
This has been severely lacking throughout the entire duration of my walk with God. I started it last year, my church in Austin went to an Alzheimer's home to sing gospel songs for members there. I went and participated in that, but I know I can do more. I don't know exactly what I'm going to do right this moment, but there is more that I can do in the world.
This is my story and I'm sticking to it! Hope you all encourage me to keep my word. I will hold you to yours!
