Good enough
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.That's my answer from now on. Whenever someone asks me how I'm doing, my answer will be "Good enough". Why? Because its the truth. I have my problems that bother me. I thought I made a lot of improvements, I really thought I overcame them. Thought that I was over them. Last week I realized that I wasn't. However, unlike how I was last year, I won't let them get me down.
- 1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV)
God gives you enough. Never less than that. Sometimes we get things in abundance, sometimes we get an overflow of blessings, but at other times he gives us enough. We may not be able to see it that way, but we always get enough. Regardless of what people tell you.
I remember talking to a woman who I look up to very much about something similar last year. She was talking about the high oil prices and how people will have a hard time paying for it, that families will struggle through the cold winter. I said to her "You will always get what you need". She asked me who said that and I replied "Jesus". We do always get what we need, but she wasn't convinced. She said that it was easy for me to say that, since I don't have to pay a heating bill. That may be true, but I ended up being right because this was one of the warmest winters ever and people didn't have to pay as much for heat as they normally would have had to if this was your typical winter. So much for those "high" heating bills! God provided warm weather, he gave us enough to withstand, but the unbeliever will probably tell you that its just global warming.
I am dealing with a lot now, but I don't really feel like getting into it with anyone. Don't be offended! I just realized I did a year of complaining to those who are close to me, and it got me nowhere. Yeah, there's nothing wrong with talking about your problems with your friends, but too often they became a crutch to me. Why should they be a crutch when Jesus promises to give me what I need?
For this reason I say to you,do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! Do not worry then, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear for clothing?' For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.So yes I have a lot that I'm dealing with, but I will overcome it all. If I feel like it, I will tell someone. You're allowed to ask, but don't feel upset if I say "I don't want to talk about it". In the mean time, all I ask for is prayer.
-Matthew 6:25-33 (NAS)
So to summarize, I am good enough. Not perfect, as no one is, but good enough. I have all that I need. God willing, in time I will have more of what I want.
If ever you want to talk, I am here :)
